newborn baby woman having premier birth

When Life Breaks You Open

December 15, 20251 min read

Most women think they are “failing” when they struggle after a preemie is born 2 months early, but what if the struggle isn’t failure at all, what if it is your nervous system telling the truth before your mind can catch up.

You are not “too emotional,” you are living in a body that has survived fear, exhaustion, hormonal chaos, sleep disruption, and the invisible mental load of keeping everyone alive.

What looks like irritability or distance is often what happens when a woman has been strong for too long without a single place to soften.
And what looks like a relationship falling apart is often two flooded nervous systems trying to love each other while drowning.

You are not losing yourself, you are being called back to yourself.
You are not pushing him away, you are running on fumes in a season where your needs have been outnumbered by everyone else’s.

And maybe the real turning point is not fixing the marriage overnight, it is offering yourself one tiny moment of calm so your body remembers it is safe to feel again.

Because when your nervous system finally exhales, your relationship finally has room to breathe too.
